Hess Corporation was honored at the second annual Citizen Schools Texas Luncheon on Tuesday for its grant to establish LEAP (Learn, Engage, Advance, Persevere), a three-year pilot program that supports at-risk middle school students in Houston.

On April 3, 175,000 barrels of Hess light crude left St. James Parish, La. for a refinery in Rotterdam, Netherlands. The shipment was the first reported sale of Bakken crude outside the United States since a 40-year ban on exporting U.S. crude was lifted by Congress and signed into law by the president last December.

Hess Corporation earned a place as the No. 1 oil and gas company on Corporate Responsibility magazine’s prestigious list of 100 Best Corporate Citizens for 2016. The list recognizes public companies across the United States with strong performance in such areas as environment, climate change, employee relations, human rights, governance, finance, and philanthropy and community support.

“With our balance sheet strength, oil-leveraged portfolio and attractive growth opportunities, we believe the company is well positioned to deliver strong cash flow growth and long term value as oil prices recover,” said Chief Executive Officer John Hess.

At the 2016 Task Force ZERO Safety Conference, hosted by Oil Gas Denmark this April, Hess Asset Director for Denmark Anders Nymann joined a panel of business leaders for an open dialogue on employee safety and the importance of industry alignment, particularly in the current low oil price environment.

A strong contingent of Hess engineers and geoscientists will represent the company at this year's Offshore Technology Conference, May 2-5 at Houston's NRG Park.

Hess was honored at the STEM Education Leadership Awards presented by Nasdaq and EverFi. The award recognizes Hess’s significant efforts to improve science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education and career readiness for students across North America. Sixteen institutions were honored with this distinction at a ceremony hosted on May 19 at the Nasdaq Marketsite in New York City.

The May issue of Offshore Magazine features an overview of Hess’ use of a computed tomography (CT) scanner during a recent subsea flowline inspection campaign to verify the integrity of locations that could potentially develop high levels of corrosion.
