Hess has been active in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico for more than 25 years following our discovery of oil at the Baldpate field in 1991. Today, our company is one of the largest gross operated producers in the Gulf of Mexico, with an extensive inventory of high return infrastructure opportunities. We have strong operating capabilities and have been selected as the operator of choice by our Gulf of Mexico co-venture owners.

Hess North Malay Basin Operations

Long Life Gas Assets in Southeast Asia

Hess is an established operator and key gas supplier to Peninsular Malaysia and Thailand. The Hess-operated North Malay Basin is a development of 10 discovered gas fields in the Malay Basin. Phase 1 of full field development achieved first gas in 2017, just three years after sanction. These gas fields are being developed on a phased basis to support energy demand in Peninsular Malaysia. Full field development Phase 1 achieved first production gas in 2017, Phase 2 achieved first gas in 2019 and Phase 3 first gas was achieved in 2022. Carigali Hess Operating Company operates the Joint Development Area (JDA) on Block A-18 in the Gulf of Thailand, where first production was achieved in 2005. These two strong long-life gas assets have oil linked pricing in a premium gas market.

Production from Two Major Oil Developments, Offshore Guyana

Startup of production from the first phase of development of the Liza Field, offshore Guyana, was achieved in December 2019 – less than five years after the first discovery of hydrocarbons and well ahead of the industry average for deepwater developments. The Liza Phase 1 development utilizes the Liza Destiny floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel. The Liza Phase 2 development, sanctioned in May 2019, achieved first production in February 2022 utilizing the Liza Unity FPSO.
